05 gages won't work on 03, 04 SSR's, totally different gages. The 03 & 04 gages tell AMPS, GPH (gallons per hour) total waste, and Transmission temperature. The 05 gages tell AMPS, boost or torque?, Transmission temperature.
When I installed my gages in my 04 I thought they weren't working at first. When I started the truck the gages would sweep then return left and stay there. It would take a couple of munutes for them to start indicating a reading.

Fred, I noticed that all my gages do this, sweep to the right then return left before there is an accurate reading...is this right?

pod color

I believe the pods for the 2003 and 2004 are only available in brushed aluminum. If you want a colored pod in your 03 or 04, you will need to have it painted or buy two packages and swap the meters. Sell the extra on ebay.

They really don't know our rides!!! there is lots of discussion about it on this site print it out and take it with you!!! Tell them what can happen if they hook up the wrong set on the wrong year and ask them if they really want to eat the price of the unusable cluster after they fry it!!!! :ssr

But then again if they fry the cluster a new set would have to be ordered. The first set has the colored cover, second set the brushed silver. HMMMMMM I'm willing to bet that a dozen donuts to the service dept might be enough to bribe them to switch housings. Color coordinated on an 04.......... To speak or not to speak.

temp

I believe the '05 gauge is a voltmeter, torque gauge, and outside temp., not tranny temp.
Correct?

They are recalibrating with each start-up. If they ever get stuck (it has happened to some), stopping and restarting as many as 8 times or more usually resets them. It was posted previously on this forum.

That's exactly how my '05 aux gauges read: voltmeter, torque, outside temp. Given their location and size, they're all but useless IMO ... I'll take a digital-readout for outside temp any day.

But they were already there, and they look cool...

Are they really recalibrating, or is this just eye candy, like the marquee message in the DIC?

according to what i have been told by the service advisor, recalibrating.
I just received my 2 volume service manual in today's mail from Helms. I'll look it up to verify.
