I think I would find another dealer!! after you get Mike's Fan installed.. They are trying to rip you off!! :mad :mad

 

Actually the dealer is correct. I say that because I got the same reply from my dealerships parts department a few weeks ago. They only sell the whole unit and it costs 900 or so dollars. I have ordered one of Mikes and will do the easy as pie install when i receive it.

What is the status of GM assuring adequate SSR replacement parts? Is after market probably where we'll need to look? Thanks

 

Actually, we rec'd an '05 fan from Magic Carpet Ride last thursday. We installed it in a few minutes and are running cool again. No Arturo required He can help with Mikey's install!

 

Did you also have Joe adjust your on temps when he tuned your R in Redlands? That has been a BIG help along with Mikey's fan I typically run under 210 while sitting at a light in 100+ degree sunshine.

 

$900 for the OEM (GM) radiator cooling fan is a definite rip off.

gmpartsgiant.com lists GM part number 15816298 "FAN ENG COOL,(INCLS MOTOR & BLADES" for the cooling fan and their price is $397.35 (ouch) and there is a GM parts seller on eBay with 3 of the GM fans available for $320 with free shipping.

In my opinion, putting another GM radiator cooling fan in your SSR is a waste of good money for a fan that will very likely fail again.

I purchased a simple-engineering radiator cooling fan for my former 2006 SSR and I was thrilled with how it performed (in the nasty Sacramento, CA heat). When I purchased my 2004 SSR, one of the first purchases I made was another simple-engineering radiator cooling fan. I was happy to retire the GM radiator cooling fan to a shelf in my garage.
