If it's electronic, it's usually a pain.:mad2: Yesterday, I had my Chevy dealer's SSR trained tech install a auxillary gauge pod purchased from a fellow fanatic. The GPH gauge is not functioning properly, yet my fellow fanatic claims it never malfunctioned for him, and I have little reason to doubt his sincerity. For the "most part" it will work as long as the fog lights and/or the headlights are not activated, MOST of the time. As soon as I turn either one on, the needle slams to the right and stays there.:banghead Turn off the lights and it registers normal readings.
Who's got a clue???:smash

aux gauge trouble

i would try unplugging the dash lights at the gauges(grey wires). and see if that clears it. if it doesn't i would try the gauge set in another truck to make sure it works properly. hopefully you have a buddy close that will let you try the gauge set in his truck. it could be the gauge itself shorted to the dash light wire internally . good luck.

Sounds like a short in that guages lighting circuit. Check the wiring to the guages, make sure something didn't get pinched when installed. If it all looks good, then I would replace just that guage. Good luck!

I agree..... There must be a short between the gauge lighting circuit and that gauge drive. If it was on the wiring, it would affect all three, since the feed to the gauge pack is digital. Pull up the gauge set and look very carefully at the circuit board and wiring on the back of the gauges. You should be able to follow the lighting wires and traces on the board to see if there is something shorting out that individual gauge.

Good luck on your quest.......

Apparently something went haywire during the shipping of the gaugepod. Plugging in different gauge set yielded perfect results with correct readings. I don't have a chromed, but I've got working gauges! Thanks for all of the input, both in the posts and PM's.
Original seller is being a gentleman about the situ, which eases the pain, big time.
