Withe the engine running I turn on the fan and push the AC and I get cold air.. The problem is when I turn off the engine with the AC on and say go to lunch, when I come back and start the engine the AC light is still on but I get hot air, I have to turn off the AC and turn it back on to get cold air.. Can someone tell me where and what the problem is.....

Just to clarify, is the button that you press the snowflake button on the left knob or the recirculate button on the center knob? If you press the recirculate button, it will automatically enable the A/C compressor, but it will typically default back to the off position every time the vehicle is restarted. If you press the snowflake button, the A/C compressor will be enabled & it should stay on when restarting the vehicle.

You might try to perform HVAC actuator recalibration.

I don't know if will acomplish anything, but its inexpensive and somewhat quick. While it should not solve any issues such as this. It did actually solve an odd blower motor issue I had after installing a used one I had soldered in LEDs.

Look for AC actuator recalibration.

I'm not trying to come across as a smarta$$, but if you have an owner's manual, go to the appropriate section and read up on the AC operation. So many of these fairly common problems can be solved by a little reading, that's why manufacturers provide the manuals, to let us owners take care of some of the smaller stuff without having to get a dealer involved (saving us mucho $$$ in the process). Again, no disrespect intended..................................

Once summer time really begins and even now, I read somewhere that the best way to cool the cabin is to:
Lower both windows and turn the AC on without recirculation and then in about 15-30 seconds. As you feel the Cold AC beginning to cool, you roll up the windows and press the recirculation button.

It will take longer to cool down the interior of the cockpit in the recirculating mode from start up, the AC system will be working quadruple time at cooling the trapped air In Our little cockpit ovens. FYI
