Is the Chamois still a good item to use to dry the car? If not what is the recommended product to use on the SSR to dry the car and where would you purchase the product.

Thanks

I've used the Absorber for years - works great. Should be availavle at most auto parts stores. It's synthetic, and stays in its own container, so it's always damp and ready to go.

I've also seen more rodders using a rubber squeegee - don't remember the name of it. Seems to work really well, but I'd be concerned about any debris scratching the sirface.

Picked up a new microfiber wash mitt this week. It's awesome - looks like Raggedy Ann's hair.

Check out the Tips and Tricks on the Zaino store

You should check out the Tips & Tricks section on the Zaino Web site. They give all sorts of ideas for washing and drying. Of course they also have info on their product too.

Zaino works wonders. I bought one of their kits last year after reading about it on this site.

I bought the Zaino show car kit but haven't tried it out yet. It's supposed to be the best. I have a few small stone chips I want to repair first and I also purchased the Langka kit to make them disappear.

I also read how some people are having good luck blow drying their vehicles with an electric leaf blower... so I picked one of those up also.

Now I just need the time to try it all out. :)

I import real chamois which is still excellent to use BUT there is a lot of upkeep with a real chamois. I sell all kinds of auto detailing supplies and I sell a synthetic chamois from S.M. Arnold located in St. Louis Mo. that's what I use. They are 5.5 Sq. Ft. each and obsorbs approx. 95% of what a real chamois does. Probably your local auto detailing supplier handles this product.

The squeegee is called the California Water Blade. They work fine as long as your car is clean, I've watched alot of car people use them at shows after a rainstorm and end up scratching the car because of the dust/dirt on the car. I use one in combination with the Absorber.

The secret I found out here is to get a winter windshield wiper. They have a plastic cover all the way around, so no scratches. If you use public coin operated car washes, like I do, it's the only way to get the water off the back and top before it dries and spots.

Question on the chamois. How do you clean it? The kitchen towels I use now pick up a lot of dirt that the car wash doesn't get off.

leaf blower!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Believe it or not I use a small compact leaf blower first!!!!-it gets all the water out of your mirrors-grille and wheels-then I finish w/ the absorber. Its funny I live on the main street in my neighborhood and I have had a couple of people slow down and shake their heads. Since I started using the blower I have seen 3 or 4 of my neighbors doing the same! The drying w/ the blower takes all of 5 minutes and no streaking! It dries my tires so fast I can apply tire shine immediately! Try it you'll like it!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mikes Mid-Life:seeya

TELL YOUR NEIGHBORS ITS NOT A LEAF BLOWER--ITS A MASS AIR FLOW MACHINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Real chamois is very hard to maintain. You must rinse several times when using. Always wash you cars with a wash mitt to remove any residue on the finish so to get a grime free surface. Once this is done there is no need to wash the chamois as often. The problem with chamois leather which is the split hide of a sheep skin is the upkeep. When finished always hang up like you would do a bed sheet and let it dry.

Another vote for the electric leaf blower here. Have one that only gets used for the vehicles. Been doing that for quite a few years on our Firehawk and now the SSR. Amazing how well it works with Zaino. Just blows the water right off, then a quick touch up with a chamois or cotton towel and you're done! Neighbors look at you funny, but oh well....
