These past two days, the horn on my 05 SSR has gone off on its own. It does not stay on just beeps occasionally. The car starts fine and shows a good charge on the alternator. Has anyone else experienced this? I also noticed last night after checking the car after it beeped, that it locked the doors too.

Strange....

with out being able see the vehicle and going by just your description, I would first suspect the BCM and if that wasn't the problem then I would look at one of the door latches, as one may have some water intrusion causing a short.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I guess I should have been more specific. The SSR is sitting in the garage, turned off, doors unlocked. The keys are hanging in their place. My wife and I are watching a movie in the loft above when we here this horn beeping occasionally, not constant, but a couple of times in an hour. The next day while working in the loft, I hear the thing beeping again.

When I start it, it starts strong and the amp meter stays at about 14-15.

If my memory serves me right, there is a procedure for changing the security code on the key fob. I think if you look in your regular operation manual , you will find it. I believe you have to hold the unlock button down for 10 sec while the key is in the ignition. They suggest doing this after changing the battery. Hope this works

I'll toss my guess in....

Sounds like either the unit in the truck that has the receiver for the key fob signal is on the fritz, or one of your fobs has a random gremlin. It may be as simple as a bad ground to the box, or as complex as someone's garage door opener getting to you..... Whatever the source, your truck is acting like it is getting locked from somewhere. Take the batteries out of one of your remotes and see if it still does it. If it still does the short beep, put the battery back into that remote and pull it from your other one.

Remember that there must be a time limit on this to prove that one key fob is OK......... set yourself a "reasonable" amount of time to deem a key fob OK...... if it still beeps on both cases, your fobs are good and you need to start looking at the truck.

Regards,

Mike

I had a job one time troubleshooting a ceiling fan with a remote control. The light would all of a sudden turn on in the middle of the night. Went crazy trying to figure out the cause. We finally changed the DIP switches and that worked. It turned out to be the next door neighbors TV remote control. They would come home from work late at night, turn on the TV and the light would turn on next door.
Could it be possible your TV remote is causing the problem. Try changing the code on the key fob.

Motion detector lights that have the new flourescent Lamps are the biggest cause of turning Remote control devices on. Or Lamps in your living room or else where in the house. These new bulbs Double the Line Frequency to around 120 Hz. I suggest you turn these Lamps off and on for a test. Some of you will find your TV, Radios and Vehicles will be activated by these frequencys emitted from the Lamps. If so just change out the lamp with incandescent lamps. This will work for a few more years, As some local gov. have banned the incandescent lamps use in the future.

Some of you will think that this is a joke.

It is not a Joke, and your house is not Haunted, just Frequency challenged.
