I am one of the few Corvette guys who likes run flats the handling compromise is negligible expect for the high speed driving experts (who are fewer than claimed). I am 61 so my tire changing days are over "Let George Do It" Is there any run flat wheel and Tire size that would work on the SSR?

Been checking runflat availability for quite a while - the only scenario that works would be to purchase aftermarket 18 and 19 inch wheels and run the Z06 tire sizes.

A tire pressure monitoring system would be an effective preventative measure. Saved me once - had a tire going down, and the system flashed and buzzed to let me know. I was able to add some air and get it home safely. It would at least give you enough warning to deal with it, short of a blow-out.

You would still need the monitoring system with run-flats. If you're not aware the tire has gone down, it will be junk fairly quickly.

Michelin Zero Pressure Tires

Michelin makes a 255/50R19 Latitude Tour HP ZP tire for the newer BMW X5. It is for an OE fitment, but might be available to the public soon. I will have to check Monday to see if it fits on a "standard" rim.

They make a 315/35R20 in the Latitude, but I don't think it is a ZP tire.

I had no problems with my run-flats on my C5 either, however, I couldn't wait to replace them with non run-flats which provided a significantly better ride. Of course I add to add a repair kit plus a compressor all well worth gaining a much improved ride IMHO.

I chose to install a spare tire under my SSR rather than pursue run-flats.

I did a search on runflats and this was the most current thread on runflats. Is there any new information on runflats for our SSR's. I know about Mike in AZ spare tire kit and may install one. But for now I am hoping for runflats.

Still looking.

Got all excited when I found out the Michelin Pilot PS-2 was a runflat tire.

Turns out to be available in runflat only for OEM sizes for the ZR1, in 18s and 19s. None of the other sizes are runflats.:mad
