This is one of the SSR's given to Drivers to use for the period February 8-20 prior to the running of the 2005 Daytona 500.
This is signed on the tailgate and in front of rear quarter by #24 Jeff Gordon.

Add: This is the Red Cross Auction SSR. It may have had special decals applied for this purpose.
It does not have the Official Team Vehicle decal on the tail gate.

From Press release 2/16/2005.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., Feb. 16 /PR Newswire/
Hundreds of thousands of racing fans in Daytona Beach attending the annual Speed Weeks will notice a host of Chevy's all-stars driving around town in a collection of 2005 Chevy SSRs. Chevrolet has provided 50 SSRs to its racing drivers, team owners and crew chiefs for their extended use leading up to the legendary Daytona 500. Following the race weekend, each of the vehicles will be available for purchase at Chevy dealerships throughout the Southeast.

All of Chevy's full-time NASCAR NEXTEL Cup drivers, their crew chiefs and team owners received a Chevy SSR for use while in Daytona Beach from Feb. 8 through Feb. 20. The vehicles have been a major hit among the recipients
"This is the first time I've driven the Chevy SSR," said Kevin Harvick, driver of the No. 29 GM Goodwrench Chevrolet. "The SSR has great performance with a lot of power. I've had a lot of fun driving this car."

The 2005 Chevy SSRs used by the Chevy race teams will be available beginning Feb. 28, 2005. Each vehicle includes an autographed window label and a certificate of authenticity signed by the Chevy driver, team owner or crew chief that drove the specific SSR.
Featured SSRs in Daytona are Smokin' Asphalt, Ricochet Silver, Redline Red, Slingshot Yellow, and Aqua Blur.

Yeah, sorry (and thanks). I wasn't typing what I was reading and seeing obviously. Edited #1.
Again $25k seems okay for a truck with some history.
That's the 3rd Blur in a couple weeks I have posted as potentially good buys.
Wonder if Blur "fades away" after 5 years?
:glol

Kevin Harvick is quoted in the text in Post #2.
The SSR he drove has come up for sale a couple times as I recall.

Nice truck for sure.

For sure I don't but it seems there were quite a few.

All of Chevy's full-time NASCAR NEXTEL Cup drivers, their crew chiefs and team owners received a Chevy SSR for use while in Daytona Beach from Feb. 8 through Feb. 20.

Interesting the Redline pictured has no decals.
There was some question (in an old thread) as to the decals on the Harvick, and when they were placed.
I have not seen any group photos of these SSR's which adds to the question of when decal placement occurred.
If there were +/- 50 SSR's running around all decked out wouldn't we have seen group photos?
I believe if GM had done any decals there would be some continuity to them.
I have only seen the 2 noted above where driver identity and association has been declared.
There is another "so-called" driver truck kicking around right now but the VIN sequence is out (#19911) so it would not be part of this group.
I will try and check further unless someone has the answers.

Well, it didn't take me long to spot another.:)

This is currently for sale. No side decals but note the "Official Team Vehicle" on tail gate.
VIN 1GCES14H05B119040.
It is definitely in the grouping but they make no mention in their advertising.

It is quite likely there was another at Vann Gannaway in Eustis FL (another AB in the immediate VIN range) but no longer see it in their inventory.

This is not a Daytona 500. It is from the Auto Club 500 race at California Speedway 2.27.2005

I just got off the phone with Terry @ Classic Auto in Omaha (1.866.651.0950).
If you call ask for him-nice guy, and helpful.
This one was parade driver intro for #7 Robbie Gordon at the Auto Club 500 2.27.2005 in California.
Some of our early pace Trucks saw pace duty there.
Terry is going to get me the previous owners info so I can get the story first hand.
He hopes to post pictures sometime today so when I see them I will post them here
It apparently has #7 on the door.

Pictures now posted. Interesting the #7 on passenger door only.

1GCES14H75B119911

There is a picture of Jimmie Johnson riding atop a :blur: for driver intro lap, so it seems pretty sure this SSR saw some form of duty at CA Spdway. The weekend 2/25-27/2005 there were 3 races. The Stater 300 was run Friday night and the Auto Club 500 on Sunday.

Found this that confirms the number at "50" SSR's provided to Drivers and staff at Daytona.

I have inserted pictures of the Robby Gordon #7 in Post 13.
I guess the driver door decal was damaged and removed unless never there.
This seems unlikely even though a parade lap vehicle only has the passenger door visible to the crowd.
:skep

Added note 6.20.2011: In viewing an old post by Flassh who attended a race in CA he indicated the SSR's he saw only had the decals on the door side facing the crowd.

I just scrolled over that link and did a CTRL C and pasted it into the URL and it worked fine

As a FYI and owner of a 'Official Team Vehicle' there were 20 Chevrolets in the 2005 race that qualified. There were 7 Chevrolet/owners that took their rides home!

My SSR is numbered as 041 in two locations by label on my R. One label (white background tape with black letters) was afixed onto the outside of my windshield drivers side (which I removed and saved.) A second like label SSR 041 remains afixed onto the inside of my gas tank door. My tailgate has white letering which reads 'Official Team Vehicle). I do know that RCR (Richard Childress Racing) used my R (U can tell by the amount of rubber left on the tires when I picked it up) as Bobby Hutchens signed my Manufactures window stick and posed for a picture alongside my R.

I was also told (haven't checked this out but have never seen another one like it) that my windshield decal "An American Revolution" is unique to only those R's at the Daytona. I would guess if you knew who the manufacture was you can get a duplicate...(which I did through the dealer and remains in the carboard box in case I ever get the windshield replaced.)

Nothing else was signed on the car, no glovebox etc. I do have a Certificate of Authenticity signed by Bobby Hutchens that has multiple colors etc that has my vin number which ends in 119027 and has a No12 on the lower right corner of the certificate.

Never been able to find out just how many of these R's were there or exactly who and where they were sold off to. Dimmit Chevrolet in Clearwater had a auto Ricochet Silver with similar to mine signed paperwork by Dale Earnhardt Jr on their lot.

I did not see any with unique logo's or paint schemes at the Daytona 500 in 05. The only unique schemes I can recall were the Pepsi 400 R's but I'm pretty sure they were 03 or 04 full time Daytona trucks on display.

Revolution decals are few but were readily available in 04

Alex,

As you can see in the one photo that I had taken below there were a lot of those Chevy Revolution Decals around. This shot was from the 2004 WDC (Woodward Dream Cruise) event that Chevrolet held for the introduction of the new 6.0L - 05 SSRs that were soon coming out.

Chevy must of handed out hundreds if not thousand + of those decals for free at that WDC event. I had grabbed around a dozen of those and handed several out to our SSR Fanatics that were there that year. I still have a couple left and might put one back onto my SSR again. :)

:lol That saves me some work.
I had noticed LargoSSR05's Signature and realized it would be one of these guys and PMed him.
Did you notice the same Official Team Vehicle decal on #19040's tail gate in Post #12?
I have seen a picture of the Pepsi 400 but was unable to copy it. Cool looking scheme.

#33 · (Edited)
I finally found a picture of this one I could get to copy.
I don't recall exactly but believe there was a race venue that was the Coke 400 or something and sponsor changed to Pepsi 400.
The notes attached to this picture when I found it (can't for the life of me remember where) refer to it as the Pepsi 400 but the door decal definitely states Daytona 500. (The Pepsi 400 took place at Daytona Speedway 7.2.2005) Unfortunately I do not have the VIN.
If anyone has more/better pics I would like to have them.

I emailed the seller and asked about the 2 specific pieces of documentation :yawn I haven't heard anything back yet. Do you think that means they don't have a clue what I'm talking about? :crazy

Why not call them? Previous post-
I just got off the phone with Terry @ Classic Auto in Omaha (1.866.651.0950).
This is the owner who seems like a nice guy. He was keen on finding out stuff also.
They bought it from an older gentleman in CA who didn't seem to be real clear on it's history either.
Are you snoozin' again?:lol
BTW, any added pizzazz to this truck given Jeff Gordon won the 2005 Daytona 500?

***Oooops, sorry Sandy, so many trucks in this thread.
I was thinking of the #19911 which was the #7"Robbie" Gordon at CA 2 weeks later.

Here is another interesting fact that I found out and had thought this to be true for some time.

After calling the salesman selling the 2005 Jeff Gordon signed R, I inquired about whether it had a carpeted trunk. It doesn't! So Vin 024 and vin 027 did not come from the factory with carpeting as I suspect all the other remaining R's at the Daytona 500 in 2005 also didn't. I'm pretty sure they came bare bones even without SSR logo carpet mats even though I see in the Vin 024 photo it had the logo carpet mats.

I wonder how many others didn't come with carpet in the trunk and only chrome wheels. Pretty sure all of them came with the chrome wheels. Just not sure about the logo mats or truck carpet.

What was hard to get is the leather cover for the 6-speed shifter knob which I do have.

Looking at the bottom left corner of my invoice for Vin 19027 which was signed by Bobby Hutchens for RCR corp, it too shows General Motors Corp & Subsidiaries and not Dimmit Chevrolet in the area below "DEALER TO WHOM DELIVERED".

The Dealers must of knew before hand they were getting what particular vehicles delivered after the end of the Daytona 500 in 2005.

I knew it was very recently I had heard this terminology and obviously it was in our discussions. (Good memory but real short!):lol
I hoped to get a copy of his Window Sheet but he said he does not have a scanner.

No way

I wouldn't dare to park that vehicle anywhere. I can't think of a driver the fans hate more than Gordon!!! I just couldn't drive it, well, maybe if it was free!!!

Chevy Racing, 'Daytona 500 Experience' Auction To Benefit Tsunami Survivors

Chevrolet is supporting a unique benefit auction on eBay to assist Indian Ocean tsunami relief efforts. The ultimate racing package, including an all-access trip for two to the 2005 DAYTONA 500(r) along with a 2005 Chevy SSR autographed by four-time driving champion Jeff Gordon, will be available for auction on eBay beginning Jan. 10. All proceeds will be donated to the American Red Cross International Response Fund.

"The organizations supporting the tsunami relief efforts can never receive enough help," said Brent Dewar, general manager of Chevrolet. "The donation of the Chevy Racing DAYTONA 500 experience is one way we can support the tsunami relief efforts while offering a new vehicle and a unique racing experience for a generous individual."

The person with the highest bid will receive a 2005 Chevy SSR signed by Jeff Gordon, driver of the #24 DuPont Chevrolet Monte Carlo.

It sounds like the SSR from Post #1 (#19024) was the SSR featured at this auction.
Winning Bid............$46,101 (Jan 10, 2005)

I did a separate thread on this Daytona that came up for sale but figured I should make note of it in this thread also.

14.3k asking $30k - open to offers.
One owner, seemingly in immaculate condition.
Craig at Ellis Infiniti went out and found the gas door sticker when I asked if he would mind checking several locations.
Frankly, I was shocked when he came back and said it was SSR38 as I never expected the sticker to survive.:)
