Well it been one week since taking ownership of the most unpractical vehicle on planet.
The battery is UNDER the car..
Their isn't a spare tire...
To adjust the seat while driving may need to open the door because your hand won't fit between seat and the door.
Don't even get me started on the cup holders...
But HEY !!
COOL Rules !!! :nerd:

Battery age has is a small part. I've had batteries last 6 or more years and one 3 wks. Read the forum you will find all those issues are part of owning a 4 yr production vehicle. Enjoy and don't sweat the small stuff. Just my .02.

Spare tire

I wouldn't count on the chemical flat repair included in the box behind the seat. I always keep a flat repair kit that includes the rubber plugs that look like worms in the back of the truck. It doesn't work well on sidewalls, but does work well in the tread area. And having the battery in the back helps with the balance of the truck - and that's a good thing. Cupholders, shmupholders - one is fine for me.

Cup holders seem to be a big deal nowadays. I Remember the days when you had your beer between your legs and the seat belts were tucked under the seat with the empty beer cans. I just bought a new truck and it has 8 damn cup holders. Four in the center console and one in each door. Not sure why I need that many.

Hell Chevynut your 4 short for a 12 pack and 2 over for a six pack, with the truck just put a pony keg in back with a tube running to a tap in the center console why sweat the small stuff.
TeakFreak don't forget my finder's fee for your truck, let you buy me a beer sometime when we get togther. When I seen it I knew it was a nice R and a pretty good deal. If I didn't already have my UV R I would have bought this one, very sharp and wel maintained truck. You did good. Try and make it the Daytona rally in April so you can show it off.
Drink holders we don't need no stinken drink holders....

I agree with you on the cup holders. They are European, they must stop at a little village every so often and get something to drink.:wink2:

We like to use koozys (sp?) on our drink cans and they will not fit in the holders. My wife also likes a fountain drink with ice in it and we do a lot of driving with the top down-we live in the NC mountains-and we like to have a bottle of water.

My "R" did not have the console cup holders so I made my own. You can see the two different sizes in the attachment. The one on the passenger side is larger and had the slot already in it. I cut the ring on the driver side and now a can with a koozy will fit into it.

These cheap cup holders are from O'riley's , maybe a couple of bucks or less. They are made to hang on the door. I cut the hanger off and also cut two slots in the bottom so it would slide in the clip on the console. My clip is vertical. I don't see how it would work on the later, horizontal clip.

They work great for us. They also come in grey. I did a little more buffing and they look a little better now. That is a hard spot to see, without the camera flash, they look like they could be a standard part-to me.

I used the grey one as a template, but you can see the notches cut in the bottom. Just trial and error. The I fashioned the black ones to fit.

The very best thing about owning one of these unique vehicles is that you have the Forum to ask for tech support and or just to better understand your R. I didn't find the Forum until recently ( 2015 ) after purchasing my R in 2011. Take time every week to read "Active Topics" and the Tech Support forums. You should also make sure that ALL the recommended upgrades e.g. Transmission Linkage bushing, ABS Heat shield, along with several other OEM parts that we owners have found to be less than reliable.

I think there is a "Newbie" list of things to consider replacing on your R. The low mileage is NOT an assurance these parts will not need to be replaced for a long time.

I had my very first "Permagrin" this past week. Thanks to several Forum members who helped me repair my defective OEM roof hinges and struts.

"Long may you run with your R shining in the sun" Oh and if you do happen to drive in the rain it's OK enjoy your R.:00000732::00000732:

Oh, that's just the beginning....Lol
GMC saw fit to have customers cringe to their 2 nickel savings, that would not interfere with their corvette line, it takes some interest to get it all sorted out.

Just got two window dings and the first was a $50 fix, one week later the City trucks updating the road infrastructure, knocked a big enough chunk out of my beloved SSR, to the point I had to buy another. For those going down this particular road, getting an OEM / SSR front window is impossible. There are aftermarket solutions that don't have the curve in the middle of the window, leaving around almost an inch gap at the bottom were the plastic mold fits. Pilkington & PNG -Whatever if I got that wrong, I understand in a couple of years there might be another mold done with the OEM glass mold, meanwhile it's a crap shoot. Picked up a replacement for $80 & $180 install, but it's an obvious misfit out of the gate.

Sticking to the above, Arkansas road users spend 6.2 million on repairs to their vehicle's due to bad roads, they supplement that cost by placing "Speed Bumps", that does nothing to offenders, but does drive up repair costs for the average citizen. I just love to hate the idiots that come up with ideas that only cause further failures to the general public, about as much as adding Laws to Laws because a State simply won't act on the 1st one; in the end we have a run of Laws that the offenders have no interest in, or bother with and a legal team that believes having more Laws will affect those that don't care to begin with and is never enforced -The reason another Law is made, to accommodate those that enforce the Law, that don't! Yep, bit of well placed rant/

Anyway, on a positive note our SSR's CAN be made to function correctly, just takes a wee bit of dedication, interest and the Will to do what GMC failed in so miserably. At the end of the day, given some minor commitment, these SSR's really do very, very well. It would have cost GMC 36 cents in our dollar to do it right, out of the gate, particularly with the 2005 & 2006 years. *Shrug*

If there are any Congress critters looking in, here is a basic concept for developing a State: Arkansas already gives a free ride to Corps, that's not enough, people with money to invest want a State that has a good educational system, solid infrastructure and low crime. Education also relates to Culture, there is none in Arkansas, educational levels are an embarrassment on a good day, really. Infrastructure, nobody with money wants a destructive environment to drive "Nice" cars. Supporting an over abundance of fallout from a failed system, causing crime, is not on anybody's list of "Great places to live."

Cheers
